Born In Vietnam of Chinese ancestry, Hien Lam came to the united states i 1995 at the age of 14. Entering the California public school system challenged Hien to assimilate to American culture and while he managed to adopt American ways he also maintained his cultural integrity. He speaks four lanuages, including Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and English. His intimate knowledge and language allows him to view the world through many diffreent perspectives. This unique vision to see in through many lenses is what Hien uses to captue the most distinctive images as a photographer. Seven Years of experience through experimentation, tial and error and reading through photography books, is how Hien tought himself the art of photography.

Adding to his exceptional skills as a photographer, Hien is also an avid athlete with an incredible resume of sports, including Snowboarding, Skateboarding, BMX, Moto Cross, Kayaking, mountain climbing, sport biking, hockey, swimming and roller blading. And while he maintains a passion for still shots that capture the delicatemoments of life, his expertise is action shots. His understanding of the rules of each sport and of physical motion allow him to anticipate the athletes movements whether it be an amazing jump off ramps or an agonizing fall, to be there at the right moment to get the best shots possible.

Although his skills in photography shine through his work, he does not subscribe to a certain mold of photography or any specific style. His mission is to simply tell the stories of the human experience, in the most genuine of ways.
